Poems that encase my unspoken thoughts and words…

Haiku Stanza Poem: ʻO ke aliʻi

In remembrance of Her Majesty, Queen Liliʻuokalani, the last reigning queen of the sovereignty of the Hawaiian Kingdom.

‘O ke aliʻi
(Monarch)
Ma hea i nā kanaka
(Here are the people)
Kū i ka mauna,
(Standing tall, like a mountain)

ʻO ke aliʻi
(Monarch)
Kūkulu nā kanaka
(The people grow)
I kou kukui
(In your light)

ʻO ke aliʻi

Haʻaheo nā poʻe
(Proud are the people)
No me iā ʻoe.
(For you)

ʻO ke aliʻi,
(Monarch)
ʻO wau ʻo kou inoa?
(What is your name?)
He aha iā ʻoe?
(Do you know?)

ʻO kou inoa,
(Your name)
Mele e pili ana ʻoe.
(Songs are sung about you)
ʻO ke aliʻi
(Monarch)

He aliʻi nui,
(You are a great monarch)
ʻAlakaʻi i nā poʻe
(You lead the people)
Ma ka wā ma mua,
(To the future)

ʻO ke aliʻi,
(Monarch)
E hoʻomanaʻo au,
(I will remember)
I kou inoa.
(Your name)

Liliʻuokalani,
He inoa no.
(Is your name)

Tanka Stanza Poem: Take From?

I loaʻa ai
lākou mai nā kupuna
ʻAʻohe hōʻihi
(They take from the ancestors, no respect)

ʻIke kāmola
I ke kino nā poʻe
I ka naʻau ai
(The knowledge is woven in the bodies and guts of the people)

I aʻo ʻana
 ka naʻauao ma kēlā
I nā kanaka
(We learn the wisdom of the people)

E ʻŌlelo ai,
I lākou e pili ʻana
Hewa ka ʻike.
(They say our knowledge is wrong)

ʻAʻohe hōʻihi,
No kanaka maoli,
I ka ʻike ma hea
(No respect for the Hawaiian people )
Hewa ka noʻonoʻo,
Hehi ʻana ma hea.
(The thinking is wrong. Desecration is here.)

Tanka Poem: Dangers of The Water

Makaʻu moana
(Death in the ocean)
Kaupē i nā kanaka
(Timid the people are)
ʻUhane mau koa
(Brave are their souls)
Loaʻa aku kāua mai kai
(They take from the water)
I ke kai i loaʻa mai.
(The water takes.)

The Death In Me

What will you do, God, when I die?
There’s been something dead in me,
I’ve watched it die for years.
This loss of hope or maybe imagination to the future,
It’s been dragged through the rough,
Torn through the depths,
Ravaged through the twists and turns of life.
What will you do?
I’ve questioned opposite to this,
Why am I alive?
And in those deepest moments of the chokehold of my brain,
I watch the scenes of life replay in my mind.
Tears drenched down my face,
Looking through a mirror with a plan of death,
Why am I here?
What good am I doing here?
What does it even matter that I am here?
And no matter the question,
There’s never been an answer.
None to suffice these enchanting deadly thoughts,
None to coddle me,
None to really prove me wrong or right,
There’s just a silence,
A silence that calms my brain,
Enveloping a deep serenity in my mind,
In my heart,
And in my soul.
But only just as a teaser,
Before life becomes and everyday battle,
Between me and myself,
An never ending battle,
A psychological pull between what I want to see,
And what is laid before me,
What will you do, God?
Because I am finding it harder and harder to raise my shield,
To raise my sword,
I want to give it a rest and lose,
In the most inner crests of life,
It is me vs. my brain,
What will you do, God, when I die?
Because death doesn’t scare me half as much as myself does.
I welcome the thought sometimes when I question,
Why am I alive?

Remember Me

I remember is a statement that goes both ways,
I remember the sounding of your name,
I remember the warmth of you,
I remember from start to finish; our path,
I remember the first time I saw you and the last time I touched you,
I remember the tears that coat my pillows each time,
I remember the heavy feeling on the day of the phone call,
I remember when I watched you grow with me,
I remember when you left me on a lonely path,
I remember the words that would shatter my resolve every time,
I remember you lived through some of my darkest times,
I remember.

I remember your eyes shining bright when I first met you,
I remember holding you close to my heart,
I remember at a time you were my only friend,
I remember the way our personalities clashed,
I remember the fights we encountered,
I remember the feeling it felt to walk with you,
I remember your eyes,
I remember how often you saw me cry,
I remember how much we enjoyed laying in the sun,
I remember how close you got to my heart,
I remember the days I missed you,
I remember the look you gave me sometimes,
I remember how irritated you could get with me,
I remember, how stretched we’d been before,
I remember.

I remember when we first separated,
I remember the amount of tears that dripped,
I remember when I returned,
I remember how many happy tears there were,
I remember how well you kept the girls in check,
I remember you being my best friend to me,
I remember you being there for me,
I remember you waiting for me,
I remember the sullen look in your eyes the day before,
I remember the heavy sigh that escaped your lips while your legs wouldn’t move,
I remember trying to seem strong,
I remember when you looked at me with that look,
I remember you never gave up,
I remember the way you looked at me like you were fine,
I remember crying learning you waited for me,
I remember the clouds on the day you passed,
I remember how hard it felt to breath,
I remember.

I remember when you visited me in my dreams,
I remember we played countless times before,
I remember how many kisses you gave me,
I remember you assured me, life would be fine,
I remember when you came to remind me that your soul protected me,
I remember your life,
I remember our life story,
I remember our memories,
I remember who I was with you,
I remember who I’ve become because of you,
I remember your soul,
In remembrance Kiaʻi
I remember you.

Sidelines

Eyes are the window to the soul,
They glitter like a ravenous carnivals,
On a warm summer night,
The sweat carelessly clings,
A sticky feeling runs cold,
There’s a thinning,
While a chance in a step drives home,
There’s so much time I spend,
Pondering on the fortune,
Still thinking about that secure kiss,
Sometimes things learned are quickly feared,
Sometimes there’s a certain angle of faith,
That’s guarded by the thrilling ride,
But the gossip burns,
And her life was just out of reach for me to save.

The words we say

‘Ōlelo
The words we say,
Replay in my mind.

I love you,
Words that we echo,
Like soundwaves return.

Four years ago,
It was a start,
To some new calling.

New souls,
Old souls we are,
We have fallen in love.

Star crossed,
In faith we lay,
In four years succumb.

Those I pray,
Sweet memories,
Hope they never fade.
We have yet,
To be more than,
But I want to say.

I love you,
I love the you,
That is being you.

You who has,
With no bounds,
A free heart you have.

You have it,
A beautiful,
Soul and heart to share.

I love you,
The words we say,
Are the words cherished.

Moon Glitters

The moon rises in the night,

When height lies in deeper leaps,

It burns in thread of that lights,

For that, it shall not seep,

And seep it will for not alone,

The higher lies we will see,

Although it may not seem it tones,

When trees will cast a breeze.

Their Song

Whale song. Thundering, Clamoring love notes.
Melody. Flows to ask for answers.
I’m hearing you who sings my quotes.
Calling eyes where rings lay of dancers.

The Stars Dance

I have never seen stars that dance
With chance I have shared the night
These gleaming stars are sharing glances
With me because you are in sight.

They prance in memories of you
The stars will sing their music of mind
The soul that beams like night dew
Belongs to you my love which blinds.

These stars of skylight with turns
Cannot compete with burning flares
That rendered from your fire ferns
Your personality dares to soar.

Illuminating that highlights,
The haloing aura which captures,
My attention and grasps these heights
Of the heartwarming time fractures.

Morning Horizon

Goodnight. You have said to me.
Goodmorning, I cast these words,
Birds know love follows my glee
Lovebirds on the horizon you see.

Shine Bright

Silence forward…across the mind
A blank sheet…muse find life,
Are you okay, be kind not blind
This is not time to strife,

Your eyes…precious they seem to glow,
Have you cried today?
Please I beg you to let it flow,
Don’t let it all run in the bay.

Release your feelings at the heart,
Don’t bottle those strong feels,
Let this be your brand new start,
Give into this deal.

To me…you shine as bright as stars,
For me, I see constellations far,
Constellations that make you be ours.
Come wash away your scars.

Breathe…

Hanu i loko a hanu i waho,
To live, with this same feelings again
It is burdensome thinking at this time
I am back to unstable emotions
I cannot control when these tears will fall

Hanu i loko a hanu i waho,
It is unfair when thoughts cloud my mind
When memories flashback to the start line
She was once a small puppy at home
And now she sits without color, she waits

Hanu i loko a hanu i waho,
The earliest memory is a good one,
She sat beneath the christmas tree, lone paw
Upon a present she chose gnawing at it,
As if its hers, that it belongs to her.

Hanu i loko a hanu i waho,
The last memory ends with her taking a ride
My final gift I can give her before she goes,
She leans against the seat struggling to stay
Afloat in the back seat of her last ride.

VS Me

Do you know how much I hate you, do you?
This hate is simmering , accumulating.
It seeps beneath the floor to roots it spews.
I really dislike who you are while waiting.

Oh–I see what you mean. This hate comes from
what you cannot control. Are you content?
How come you choose to tear me down? How dumb.
While you find hate for me, do you see dents?

Of course! Because of you, is there control?
Not ever. Are you even alive? Of course, I am.
Not from my point of view, where is that role?
There you are dead inside. Why don’t you scram?

You’ve always blabbered about this hate afar.
Do you ever get tired–I am your scars.

Us and We

Do you know who we are? Who are you?
I am yo- NO! I am me! Let me finish.
I am a part of you. You and I? Ooh-
Ahh am I dead? No. Let me finis-

So I’m alive? Yes. Why are we here?
You were reborn. REBORN! Yes it's not a big deal-
NOT A BIG DEAL?! THAT MEANS I DIED!
Yes. You died. But you died many times before.

That’s not exactly a great thing to hear you know.
I know. So then why did I die- reborn?
You changed. You grew up and found a new you.
I changed? Am I better than before? Of course.

I have a feeling I’m not going to like you.
You probably won’t. I don’t mind the hate you will have.
Probably won’t. I don’t mind the hate you give.

Owed to Somebody

I believe that in this world alone you are like a butterfly
But not just one that holds pretty colors,
Or becomes a butterfly from a caterpillar
No, you are a special butterfly, you are a monarch butterfly.
Your wings are encrusted with a golden orange hue,
With the black patterns, you wave through the sunlight
You who are a butterfly, free without a care
You who may flutter through the air near the patio furniture,
During the illuminatingly calm sunbright drumming of your own heart.
It pounds deep within my soul,
Every fragment of you is irradiating throughout every bone and fragment
Of my life existence.
On a tract of life, to see you flutter past my eyes
In the bright sunlight, your wings cover the sun,
I can see all the small intricate details of yourself,
Like mirrored sunglasses, each fine detail is beautiful.
You my love are a monarch butterfly,
Free-flowing, never entrapped,
Unlike the Taj Mahal, you are not white and ivory-encrusted marble,
You have this platinum gold shine like a monarch butterfly.
Your wings have been encrusted with the deep orange hue,
With the hues of your old story,
But within the patterns may everyone see deeply,
How you fly as a monarch butterfly.
